"The testastretta 998 motor has WAY easier service due to its cam cover system. The covers are easily removable without having to remove any other covers for direct access to the valvetrain, kinda similar to a car, or any other motorcycle for that matter. Ducati's original design desmo's and desmoquattro's are very similar and hard to access the head components. The down sides to the testastretta are really none, where the 996 still has head service being really truthfully the only disadvantage. Sure the 998 has shower injectors and completely different ECU due to the testastretta, but the power and tun-ability is almost the same. Unless you wanna build a 100% race bike, the late model desmoquattro's, like you have, are perfectly fine!
If your gonna have two superbike's in your stable, why not get a xx9 bike? To be honest, I LOVE the 916 body and all, but the differences between the 996/998 as a rider are un-noticable. At least a nice 749/999 would be a completely different bike and you'd get a testastretta!"

assassin> 999 se mi taky hodne libi, ale spis vymyslim nejakeho jednostopeho, zajimaveho, youngtimera, ale uvidi se.
Napadla me i treba Kawa gpz900r, ktera v replice top gun bude mit s prichodem dalsiho filmoveho pokracovani, zvysujici tendenci na cene, ale me by to nebylo ridit.
Stara gsxr 750/1100 se mi nelibi, ke ZXR/ Zx-7R nemam vztah, pak je jeste ta prvni bilo-cervena R1, ktera uz ma v Evrope taky celkem cenu, ale ta ducati je zkratka hezci a ma v motosvete jmeno. Na mobile.de jsou zajime kousky, proto se ptam, jak to s tou 996 je.
oxygen> Covece na me ten vomikrón nejde. Kosti jsem mi uzdravily, vratil jsem se do treninku, tak vymyslim stroj, na kterym bych se zase mohl rozstipat. :))
